"My son loves every KEEN event - the regular sessions, the family fun day, you name it - because, for that time period, he has a friend. KEEN gives people with disabilities the friendship they so desire but can't obtain on their own. ” – KEEN parent

All of KEEN's programs are based on a single principle: pair a trained volunteer with a child with a disability and let them discover together how much they can do. Programs are all open, non-competitive and unstructured, allowing athletes facing significant challenges to have fun and be successful.

KEEN programs are open to all youth ages 5-21 with a physical or developmental disability.

KEEN St. Louis currently offers three sports programs, three swim programs, a music & singing program, and teen basketball.

SPORTS

KEEN Sports is filled with more than your typical sporting activities. Along with shooting hoops and scoring soccer goals, our kids love to roll around on scooters, run under our large multi-colored parachute, bike around the gym, and much more! Check out our sports program in action at this link.

Programs are held at

SWIM

KEEN Swim brings the KEEN formula to the pool, in which even the most cautious kids are eager to get in the water and splash about. At KEEN Swim, each swimmer and their volunteer can participate in a variety of swim activities, including diving for swim rings, playing with noodles, hitting inflatable balls, or just relaxing in the water. Swim sessions are unstructured and purely recreational; swim lessons are not provided.

KEEN Swim is held on Sunday evenings at

The Embassy Suites|St. Charles Convention Center proudly donates use of their handicap-accessible natatorium for use by KEEN Swim participants.  Please patronize this generous donor should the opportunity arises.

MUSIC & SINGING

KEEN Kids learn simple children's songs and dance moves as part of a large-group sing-a-long, led by a music therapist with volunteers assisting participants one-on-one.

KEEN Sings is held at

BASKETBALL (ages 10-21 only)

KEEN Kids learn basketball skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting, with volunteers assisting participants one-on-one.

KEEN Basketball is held on Sunday afternoons at

BEST BUDDIES (ages 18-21 only)

KEEN is a proud partner of Best Buddies, an international organization dedicated to providing opportunities for social inclusion to people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities. Best Buddies participants are matched in a one-to-one friendship with a peer for fun socialization opportunities throughout the year.
