OKTOBERFEST A HUGE SUCCESS!!!! With the help of some AMAZING volunteers and friends -- 50 people logging in excess of 345 man/women hours -- the KEEN/Lou Fusz Kids Zone was a tremendous success this past weekend as we raised awareness and funds to help KEEN St. Louis in its mission! More than 3500 people (kids and their parents) visited the area. Among those in attendance were several KEEN Kids and their families. All KEEN Kids were given a free voucher to enter the area and enjoy the fun. Radio Disney 1260 AM had the crowd hopping while Brunswick XL kept the ball rolling (literally) as kids bowled their way to fun and prizes! Special thanks to Hederman Events for donating the use of the inflatables (big hit!), Hermann Farms in St. Charles for providing the pumpkins at a big discount and to all of our volunteers including the St. Dominic HS Boys Soccer team, St. Dominic Cheerleading squad (who took face painting to another level), National Charity League, SLUH students and everyone who gave up their time over the 3-days to help out.
KEEN KIDS AND SIBILINGS GOT OPPORTUNTIY TO "TRAIN LIKE A RAM" AT SPECIAL SESSION
AT THE ST. LOUIS RAMS TRAINING ACADEMY
Based on the smiles on their faces (and the sweat on their brows), KEEN's first "Train like a Ram" session in mid-September at the St. Louis Rams Training Academy was a HUGE success. And hanks to the staff at the St. Louis Rams and Elite Performance Academy, all kids were to participate, no mater what their ability! More than 20 KEEN Kids and their siblings, ran, passed, tackled and hurtled their way to the top of the Rams fitness charts! The program was part of the Rams "Give 60" campaign aimed at gettiting kids up and active for 60 minutes a day. It was first time athe program was adapted to allow kids of all abilities to participate. Special thanks to Zach Kinaede and Nicole Woodie of the Rams Community Outreach depart and Matt, Eric and Marcus from Elite Performance Academy for puttin ng it all together. "We hope it add more nad more special programs like this," said Dave Welborn, Executive Director of KEEN St. Louis. "They not only give us additional opportunties for our families, but they help us create awareness in the community about KEEN St. Louis an our mission." Welborn pointed out that this program was based off of the "Play Like a Billiken" event held with the Saint Louis University Student Athlete Committee each Spring.
